Ernie's Harvest Time

Ernie's continues to be a symbol of hope for the Lynn community in the movement to eradicate the grocery gap.

Founded in 1948, Ernie's Harvest Time is considered by many to be a staple in the Lynn community. The grocery store provides quality meats, a wide selection of fresh produce and nutritious options that aren't overpriced for the community facing a "grocery gap".

Challenge

Concerned that the store's location might be sold, owners Jorge and Ana Aguirre, Guatemalan immigrants, along with their daughter Evelyn Figueroa and her husband Johnny, looked to purchase it and secure the location.

Solution

Coastal Community Capital, a nonprofit community development lender serving Massachusetts businesses, secured the commercial loan needed for Jorge and Ana to buy the building at 597 Essex Street in Lynn.

Impact

Ernie's Harvest Time continues to be a symbol of hope for the Lynn community in the movement to eradicate the grocery gap.
